These are the notes for the dungeon adventure run for the club last night. Feedback from the players is that they really enjoyed it, even if it resulted in 4 out 6 of them getting blown up by Archmage Tychon. I actually think this dungeon is a challenge, but manageable for levels 2-3 so long as they players don’t decide to charge an archmage head on.
The Institute of the Arcane is interested in hiring adventurers to investigate the Tower of a mage that they suspect is either in trouble…or dead. Ryas Tychon is a Tower Mage sanctioned by the Institute and the Crown to conduct his studies as an independent researcher.
The last anybody heard, he was researching the creation of simulacrum: body copies of himself that would be able to function as aides and assistants. He wanted to expand the spell’s use to preserve more of the power of the original so that these simulacrums could absorb the negative effects of the repeated castings of powerful spells and possibly reveal methods for improving his own quality of life physically.
He lost contact with the Institute several months ago. Tower Mages disappearing for long stretches of time are not particularly unheard of, though the Institute is likely to send adventurers or other volunteers to investigate just to be sure monsters have not acquired access to powerful magical items and equipment.
